When eating low carb you find out very quickly

that frozen pizza, box meals such as hamburger helper, and heat n' eat foods are primarily out of the diet. This mean you are committed to picking through carry out menus and a few frozen food options for fast or even simple dinner ideas that take little to no cooking. For some people this can be overwhelming.

But there are foods you can eat that take little to no cooking in addition there are foods that you can order from take out. These options are as limited as you make them. What I mean by this statement is, the more picky you are about what you chose to eat (it is a choice unless you truly have a food allergy) the less variety you will have.

So, what can you make? What foods should you be buying to use for making quick meals that take little to no effort in the kitchen?

For starters, I really suggest routinely buying uncured or natural cured deli meats over standard deli meats. If you're going to eat processed meats make sure they are the best quality you can afford. That being said "your diet would be much better if you were not eating large amount and/or consistent amounts of processed meats." Now that I have that note out of the way,  if you are choosing to incorporate a processed meats on a regular basis that is up to you. Processed meats are an easy no cook to little cook option when it comes to making meals. I suggest going for the natural cured or uncured, as noted above, in effort to avoid the nitrate and nitrites among other preservatives.

Deli meat ideas:

  • Deli meats used to make a "naked" sandwich can be easily adjusted to accommodate different flavors and/or preferences.  Include frozen veggies steamed then added onto or under your meat of choice. Top with cheese and microwave long enough to melt the cheese.

  • Use deli meat as a cup in a muffin tin then fill it with a cheese and chopped leafy greens mixture. Bake until the cheese is melted and you're

  • Make a club salad.

  • Make a lettuce wrap or even a pickle cream cheese wrap.

Meatball ideas:

  • Use meatballs to make a "naked" sandwich can be easily adjusted to accommodate different flavors and/or preferences.  include frozen veggies steamed then added onto or under your meat of choice. Top with cheese and microwave long enough to melt the cheese.

  • Try making a meatball sub with zucchini as as the bread and bake it in the oven, you'll need to cut the zucchini in half horizontally and scoop out the inside first.

  • Make a meatball soup with beef broth and a bag of frozen veggies added to sautéed meatballs.

Pre-cooked sausage ideas:

  • Use pre-cooked sausages that are microwaved then add frozen veggies that are steamed to your meat of choice. Top with cheese and microwave long enough to melt the cheese.

  • Chop the sausage of choice then add to a sauté pan with frozen veggies and cook then top with a sauce you like.
